Kevin Nealon Talks About His Atrial Fibrillation

Travis Van Slooten |February 14, 2015 | Leave a Comment

Actor and comedian Kevin Nealon of SNL has recently decided to start sharing his #afib story with the world.

Nealon has several stand-up gigs lined up for February, and is also using this month — American Heart Month — to get the word out for a cause that he knows well: the heart condition, Atrial fibrillation.

Thirteen years ago Nealon was vacation in Mexico with his then-girlfriend (now wife), Susan, when his heart started racing. He ended up in an emergency room and though he says it wasn’t a life-threatening situation, it could have led to a blood clot. It turns out, Nealon had the heart condition known as AFib. He was put on a blood thinner at the time and is doing fine these days, but think it’s important to raise awareness about the condition so people know the risks.

You can hear Nealon discuss his story in person at Drive4Clots.com. Janssen Pharmaceuticals will be donating a dollar to Mended Hearts for every page view (up to $50,000); Mended Hearts is a non-profit organization that helps heart disease patients.

What are these optional fields for?You are not required to enter your age, gender, or years with afib but the information may help other readers put your comments in context. For example, if you are a 50 year old male that has only had afib for 1 year, your comments will have different meaning to someone that is 65, female, and has had afib for 15 years.
