Congressman John Dingell of Michigan’s Twelfth Congressional District has served longer than any other Congressman in history. He’s also doing well after his catheter ablation surgery. Dingell opted for radiofrequency catheter ablation to address his a-fib condition. The Detroit News indicated that he was up and doing work from his hospital room. Dingell returned to work last week. The congressman is expected to maintain a light workload until he retires. In spite of the apparent success of the surgery Dingell […]

He spent just one night in the hospital. He shares his experience in the video below. One thing that’s really fun about these success stories is the number of times we hear about patients who get to go back to enjoying physical activities that a-fib had once taken away from them. He was […]

Alcohol Injections During RF Catheter Ablation Helps Treat Atrial Fibrillation

Travis Van Slooten |March 26, 2014 | Leave a Comment

98% ethanol looks like it may be an effective chemical ablation agent. In fact, a few judicious alcohol injections in the right place seemed to be far more effective than standard surgery alone. Of course, this is a new treatment, and long-term outcomes have not been determined. It is promising to note that the injection does not appear to significantly raise blood-alcohol concentrations. Doctors in the U.S. and Japan have devised a way to treat atrial fibrillation by adding a […]
