My Official Catheter Ablation Report

Travis Van Slooten |May 31, 2015 | 8 Comments

When you have a catheter ablation done for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, you can request an official ablation report (or called the operating room report or EP study report). Depending how efficient your hospital is at processing reports and paperwork, you might be able to get one within a few days of your procedure if you request one immediately. I had my ablation done on March 5, 2015 at St. David’s in Austin, TX and my report was available […]

Week 12: May 28, 2015 – Post Catheter Ablation Recovery Update

Travis Van Slooten |May 28, 2015 | 17 Comments

Well this is it. Today officially marks the end of my three-month blanking period after my catheter ablation! I can’t believe it’s been three months already. I also can’t believe it’s been over four months since I last experienced afib. My last episode of atrial fibrillation was back on February 3rd. Time sure does go by fast! In this final post-ablation recovery update, I’ve got good news and bad news to report. The good news is I haven’t had any […]

Week 11: May 21, 2015 – Post Catheter Ablation Recovery Update

Travis Van Slooten |May 21, 2015 | Leave a Comment

This past week was another week of “nothing.” I didn’t have any afib episodes or heart palpitations. I also weighed in at 169 pounds today so the 171 pounds I weighed last week was just a simple shift in water weight. I’m very happy with where I’m at with my weight and I’m glad to see I have finally plateaued. I increased the intensity of my exercises slightly. I try to get to the gym every weekday morning and this […]

Week 10: May 14, 2015 – Post Catheter Ablation Recovery Update

Travis Van Slooten |May 14, 2015 | 15 Comments

This will be my shortest post ablation update so far as it was a very quiet week. I didn’t have any afib episodes or heart palpitations. My weight climbed a couple pounds as I now weigh 171 pounds. That minor increase is likely just a shift in my water weight, however. I could probably jump on the scale tomorrow and weigh 169 or 170 pounds. I’m happy where my weight is at right now so hopefully I can maintain it […]

Week 9: May 7, 2015 – Post Catheter Ablation Recovery Update

Travis Van Slooten |May 7, 2015 | 7 Comments

I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record but it was another great week! I had no afib and no palpitations of any kind. And as usual, the heart rate continues to be in the upper 80’s. I also managed to lose another pound despite increasing my calories by around 300 calories per day the past week. I’m now down to 169 pounds. I haven’t been this light since high school. I’ve lost a total of 48 pounds […]
